It can be that nice touch to a romantic outing and for a good cause: the Fresno State Farm Market’s Valentine’s Day Wine Tasting on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 14 and 15.

Under its new state license that makes the Farm Market the official wine tasting room on campus, the Fresno State Winery will hold its first spring semester wine tasting from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

The cost for tasting is $5 per person, which includes a commemorative Fresno State Winery glass and three 2-ounce tastings of the featured wines. The customer also may use the wine glass for a $1 discount at future Farm Market wine tastings.

Proceeds from student products benefit agricultural programs at Fresno State. The wine tastings at the Farm Market began in December.

The wines that will be tasted are 2006 San Joaquin County Chardonnay, 2006 White Zinfandel and 2003 Petite Sirah.

The tasting is hosted by Farm Market student employees and staff and students from the Department of Viticulture and Enology, which is housed in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.

The Farm Market is l on the southeast corner of Chestnut and Barstow avenues, accessible from Barstow only during road construction.
