Applications are due Feb. 29, 2008, for the inaugural participants in the Husband-Boeing Honors Scholarship program that supports a new College of Engineering Honors Program at California State University, Fresno.

The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) established the Husband-Boeing Honors Scholarship endowment at Fresno State a year ago with a $2 million gift. The endowment provides four-year, full-tuition awards to 20 talented and motivated students from Central California studying engineering or technology. Scholarship holders will have access to individualized learning options, research projects, access to industry leaders and opportunities for internships and hands-on learning.

Minimum general requirements for consideration in the Husband-Boeing scholars program include one of the following criteria: SAT of 1,800 (critical reading, math, writing); placement within upper 10 percent of the applicant’s graduating class; and a 3.6 grade-point average.

The Engineering Honors Program is in development, but Engineering Dean Michael G. Jenkins expects the first group of honors scholarship students (freshman and transfer) to enroll for the fall 2008 semester.

Fresno State’s College of Engineering offers nationally accredited programs in construction management and in civil, computer, electrical, geomatics and mechanical engineering.
