Dr. Ellen Junn, an administrator at California State University, Fullerton, will become associate provost at Fresno State, effective this summer.

In her new role, she will work with Dr. Jeri Echeverria, provost and vice president of academic affairs, who announced the appointment. The associate provost is a member of the President’s Cabinet and is the second-highest ranking official in Academic Affairs.

Junn currently is associate dean of the College of Health and Human Development and professor of child and adolescent studies at Fullerton. Junn has spent 17 years at the university. She has held numerous academic and administrative positions and has been a longtime member of the Academic Senate.

Her research and publications have centered on earthquake preparedness in child care settings, college teaching effectiveness, faculty development and educational equity and diversity issues.

“At Fullerton, Ellen has been instrumental in the creation and innovation of a broad range of programs to further student and faculty integration, including launching the Fullerton First Year, securing funding from the Fulbright Hays Groups Project Abroad for faculty to study in Thailand and founding the Faculty Development Center,” Echeverria said.

Junn earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and her master’s degree and doctorate in cognitive and developmental psychology from Princeton University.

She has authored or co-authored more than 30 refereed journal articles and has presented nearly 100 peer-reviewed presentations, keynote addresses, and workshops. In addition, Junn serves on the editorial board of Early Childhood Research Quarterly and has served as a reviewer for Child Development and Journal of Clinical Child Psychology.

Interim Associate Provost Dr. William Fasse will remain in the position until Junn arrives on campus.
