The third concert in the 30th anniversary season of Orpheus, a chamber music ensemble based at California State University, Fresno, will spotlight the artistry of cellists Michael Flaksman and Jelena O?i? at 8 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the Wahlberg Recital Hall.

The season theme, “Five Concerts, Five Centuries of Music,” will be reflected in the mix of “old favorites, newer classics and a premiere or two,” said Jack Fortner, the Orpheus artistic director.

Flaksman, O?i? and pianist Hatem Nadim will explore the solo works “Vocalise” by Rachmaninov, “Two Songs of Shulamith” by Anatolijus Sendrovas, Hans Peter Dott’s “Quasi una Ciaconna” and Astor Piazzolla’s “Le Grande Tango.”

Orpheus will join Flaksman and O?i? for Vivaldi’s “Concerto in G minor” for two cellos and in the premiere of Fortner’s “Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow … ,” composed especially for Flaksman.
