The Equine Program at California State University, Fresno will hold its open house and sale of horses for its Quarter Horse Unit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

Guests may tour the unit’s facilities, meet animal science students, learn about educational seminars and see horses for sale and stallions available for breeding. Admission is free.

Sale horses will include 4- and 5-year-olds, all well as started under saddle, and a few 2- and 3-year-olds.

The Quarter Horse Unit, located on the northeast side of the campus at Barstow and Price avenues (west of O’Neill Park), is the setting for Animal Science classes and internships covering such areas as horse production, advanced horse management, stable management, equine nutrition and colt training.

The unit functions as a breeding and training enterprise. The young horses that students raise are for sale to the public.
