Dr. Robert M. Harper has been named interim dean of the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno, Provost Jeri Echeverria announced Thursday.

Harper has been associate dean of the Craig School for the last four years and previously served for seven years as chairman of the Department of Accountancy. He joined the Fresno State faculty in 1990. He previously taught at Louisiana State University. He holds a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in accounting, all from Florida State University.

Harper has co-authored three editions of a popular intermediate accounting textbook, and has written numerous articles in such publications as Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Horizons, Behavioral Research in Accounting, and Auditing: A Journal of Theory and Practice.

He is a member of the Rotary Club of Fresno and participates on the planning committee for the annual Valley Business Conference.

Harper will take over for Dr. Douglas Hensler, who accepted a position as dean of the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University.
