Fresno State sophomore wins rodeo queen title

Blair Smittcamp of Clovis, a sophomore at California State University, Fresno, accepted the Miss California Rodeo Salinas queen title for 2008 last week. She won a $2,500 scholarship in the competition’s 98th year.

“It’s such an honor. It’s been like a dream,” Smittcamp said, who said that she feels comfortable on a horse. For the title of Miss California Rodeo Salinas, she was judged on scholarship, personality, appearance and horsemanship.

Smittcamp is a mass communications major who plans to enter the field of broadcast journalism.

During her reign, Smittcamp will represent the California
Rodeo Salinas at rodeos throughout California and Nevada.
