Inkjet prints of photographs taken in India by Joan K. Sharma, an associate professor of art and design at California State University, Fresno are on exhibit in Fresno City Hall Aug. 4 – Sept. 1.

Sharma’s photos, some of which first were published in the fall 2007 issue of FresnoState Magazine, were taken during a study tour of northern India under sponsorship of the university’s Division of Global Education and Extended Learning.

The 13-day tour took place during the 2006-07 winter break from Fresno State. The trip began and ended in Delhi, with visits to Agra (site of the Taj Mahal), Jaipur and Udaipur as well as some of the region’s historical, religious and architectural landmarks. The tour also was designed to put participants in direct touch with the Indian people.

The City Hall solo exhibition is hung on the second floor and is available to visitors at no charge during regular hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A reception is planned 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, as part of the monthly ArtHop, in which art galleries and exhibitions in the Fresno area open free to the public.
