Award recipients who each will receive $10,000 scholarships from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program have been named by the Department of Nursing at California State University, Fresno. The recipients, all nursing majors, are:

Jeremy E. Graham, Suzanne Goulart, Hiutan Cheung and Ritu Kamal Grewal of Fresno; Anna Campbell and Edna Keener of Easton, Efleida Cogdill of Selma, Talia Johnson of Visalia, Shelby R. Lusk of Reedley and William Gray of Clovis.

The scholarships, part of a national initiative launched by RWJF and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, will help increase the number of students enrolled in Fresno State’s accelerated baccalaureate nursing program.

Scholarships will be distributed nationally to 706 entry-level nursing students in accelerated programs during the 2008-09 academic year. Award preference is given to students from groups underrepresented in nursing or from disadvantaged backgrounds.
