A tasting of the Fresno State Winery’s yet-to-be-released 10th anniversary Fresno County Syrah will be a highlight of the 11th annual Ag One Alumni and Friends Wine Tasting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Fresno State Winery and World Cooperage Barrel House.

A pretasting guided tour of the Fresno State Farm is available for Ag One guests at 4:30 p.m., departing from the winery.

The event will feature an exclusive barrel tasting of the anniversary wine made from grapes grown, harvested and crushed on the campus in 2007. The wine is scheduled for release later this year to commemorate the 10th year of the nation’s first commercially bonded winery on a university campus.

Since the student-operated Fresno State Winery began. Its vintages have won more than 200 awards worldwide in competition with other commercial wines.

The tasting is presented by the Ag One Foundation and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at Fresno State. “It’s an opportunity for alumni to come back to campus and reconnect with one another, the college and the university,” said Christy Melvold, program coordinator of Ag One.

Admission is $35 per person until Friday, Oct. 10, and $40 per person after. Proceeds will support students and programs in the college.
