Six California State University, Fresno students presented “With My Own Eyes,” a contemporary modern work by choreographer Lindsay Jo Settle, a Fresno State dance student from Chino, at the third annual Central Valley Dance Festival in Fresno.

The Oct. 18-19 festival celebrated unity and diversity through the language of dance by bringing together central San Joaquin Valley dance groups for performance and acquaintance.

“It was an enriching experience for all involved” said Kenneth Balint, an associate professor of theater arts at Fresno State. “It was the first time Fresno State has taken part in the festival and the students are already talking about the possibility of performing again next year.”

The Fresno State dancers were Settle, who is majoring in art and minoring in dance, Katrina Acoba of Stockton, Laura Black of Modesto, Kristen McIntrye of Salinas, Taryn McKelvey of Hanford and Kensington Stettler of Manteca.

University Dance Theatre is performance class that strives to provide students from all artistic sectors of the campus community with personal support and intellectual challenge through a dance-based environment.

The group’s next performances are Nov. 20-22 on campus. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased on online at or at the box office, 559.278.2216.
