In an effort to reduce costs and improve services, the Help Desk at Fresno State is changing its hours of operation. Customers should experience less wait time for support from the Help Desk when the change takes effect.
Starting Sunday, Nov.16, the new Help Desk hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The change is based on analysis of customer demand that shows most calls for customer support occurred during the middle of the day. There was almost no demand for support during the evening hours and little demand during the weekend hours.
These facts, combined with the budget crisis, led managers to examine ways of reducing costs while improving service. The result was a change in staff schedule that provided more staff during periods of higher call volume.
