Jazz Band A at California State University, Fresno will team up with the Mexican group Trio Ethos May 1-3 for performances around Fresno, including “Jazz in the Park” on Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. at the Rotary Amphitheatre, Woodward Park.

The performance will launch the “Fresno Celebrates Mexico” series. Together, Jazz Band A and Mexican Trio Ethos will create a bi-national and bi-cultural experience embraced by the universal language of music, producing offspring jazz interpretations with a Latin touch.

“Fresno Celebrates Mexico” is promoted by the governments of Mexico and the City of Fresno to enhance the contributions of contemporary Mexican culture to the San Joaquin Valley.

The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Consulate of Mexico in Fresno, Wells Fargo, the City of Fresno, Fresno State and other local private and public entities.

Jazz Band A and Ethos will also work together to provide local high school students an interactive performance where students will be given the chance to perform with both bands and receive instruction and tips on their performance. The event will run from 2-3:30 May 1 in the concert hall located in the music building on Fresno State’s campus.

Saturday, May 2, Jazz Band A and Ethos will meet again at 8 p.m. to perform at Yosemite Ranch Steakhouse, 1520 E. Champlain Dr. in Fresno.
