Afiara String QuartetOne of the most acclaimed classical music ensembles, the Afiara String Quartet, will perform in concert at 7 p.m. today, July 17, at the Concert Hall in the California State University, Fresno Music Building as part of CSU Summer Arts.
The members, all of whom got their start in Canada, are violinists Valerie Li and Yuri Cho, violist David Samuel and cellist Adrian Fung who came together in 2006 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
At Fresno State, they will play a program that includes Beethoven’s Beethoven “String Quartet Op. 18, No. 3,” Zorn’s “Cat O’Nine Tails,” Puccini’s “Crisantemi” and the Mendelssohn “String Quartet Op. 44, No. 2.”
Tickets are $15-$25 and may be purchased noon-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the Fresno State Box Office in the Speech Arts Building, online at www.csusummerarts.org or by phone at 559.278.5109.
CSU Summer Arts, in its 11th consecutive summer at Fresno State, offers classes taught by visual, performing, musical and written arts experts who also participate in public presentations and performances throughout each two-week session.
