Tony SweetPhotographic expert Tony Sweet will lecture and a group of talented performers, musicians and a stage director will present a concert at California State University, Fresno tonight, July 21, as part of the CSU Summer Arts program.

Sweet, who has written three books on fine arts nature photography and is about to publish a fourth, also is acclaimed as a teacher of his art. His lecture will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Conley Lecture Hall in the Phebe Conley Art Building at Fresno State. Admission is $7-$10.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. at the Concert Hall in the Music Building. Soprano Janice Hall, tenor Gerald Seminatore and pianists Donna Loewy and Benjamin Makino will perform selections from Italian and American musical theater. Stage director Jonathan Eaton and conductor Bernard MacDonald will present a lecture about the roles of various people on and off stage come together in a presentation. Tickets are $15-$25.

Tickets for both events are available noon-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the Fresno State Box Office in the Speech Arts Building, online at www.csusummerarts.org or by phone at 559.278.5109.

CSU Summer Arts offers two-week classes taught by performers and artists who also participate in public presentations and performances. The program, created by California State University, is in its 24th season and 11th straight at Fresno State.
