Lance OlsenLance Olsen, whose writing includes nine novels, short stories, poetry and a text on fiction writing, will read from his work at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the California State University, Fresno Concert Hall as part of CSU Summer Arts.

burnt by Lance OlsenOlsen has received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and a Pushcart Prize for work published in small presses. He is a former Idaho writer-in-residence, appointed by the governor. His novel “Tonguing the Zeitgeist” was a finalist for the Philip K. Dick Award for distinguished science fiction. He is an associate editor at American Book Review and fiction Editor at Western Humanities Review.

Tickets to his reading are $7-$10. They can be purchased noon-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the Fresno State Box Office in the Speech Arts Building, online at www.csusummerarts.org or by phone at 559.278.5109.

CSU Summer Arts is in its 24th year of classes taught by top practitioners in the visual, performing, musical and written arts. The artist-instructors participate in public presentations and performances throughout each two-week session.
