The Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) has recognized Dr. Rassoul Yazdipour of California State University, Fresno with its 2009 Institutional Stewardship Award.

Yazdipour, a professor of finance and business law at Fresno State since 1987, and Dr. Ronald Purser of San Francisco State University were recognized for their work on the CSU Business Teaching Commons. The award, presented at the organization’s conference in San Jose, also pays tribute to those who have helped spread good programs throughout the California State University system.

Business Teaching Commons was formed in 2006 as a small community of CSU faculty, staff and administrators who wanted to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in business disciplines with online resources linked to MERLOT.

That effort has led to a Web site developed to provide a collaborative space for CSU business faculty and easy access to MERLOT materials.

MERLOT is an international initiative that enables faculty to integrate technology into higher education and provides peer review of new teaching a learning technologies.
