The University Advancement Division at California State University, Fresno won four awards in regional competition sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

CASE Region VII competition includes public and private universities in California, Hawaii, Utah, Arizona, Guam and Nevada.

Dr. Peter N. Smits, vice president for University Advancement, accepted the awards at the Region VII annual conference Nov. 14.

Fresno State’s awards are:

* Silver Award of Excellence for Fundraising, Stewardship. The award is for the Division’s report mailed to endowment donors to reflect the efforts of three offices — the Scholarship Office, the Foundation and University Development. Director of Donor and Volunteer Relations Leticia Reyna Cano was the project leader.

* Silver Award for Excellence for Video Fundraising. The award is for the lively video created in association with the launch of the public Campaign for Fresno State. Campaign Communications director Jill Wagner spearheaded the project.

* Bronze Award of Excellence for Special Events. The award recognized the planning and execution of the official launch event in May of the Campaign for Fresno State by Wagner and Cano.

Bronze Award of Excellence for Internal Audience Periodicals. The award was for University Journal, the monthly e-newsletter for faculty and staff. April Schulthies, catalog editor in the Office of University Communications, is the Journal editor.
