FresnoStateNews.com, California State University, Fresno’s prime source of campus news online, will debut its complete makeover on Monday, Feb. 1, with a new look and user-friendly features.

The site has developed since its inception in1999 into the place on- and off-campus visitors go first seeking the latest information about Fresno State and the accomplishments of its students, faculty and staff.

“Although the original and current news site has served its purpose for the past 10 years, there are more current applications, layouts and presentations that we wanted to incorporate to make the site even more useful for our audience,” said Bruce Whitworth, director of Publications and New Media.

“I believe the new site will prove to be an even better tool to serve the needs of our audience,” Whitworth added.

The new site also links visitors to the Campaign for Fresno State, FresnoState Magazine, updates on the impact of state budget cuts, a campus calendar, flu-prevention updates and photo and video galleries.

In addition to new and greater functionality, the new FresnoStateNews.com also gets an updated logo, a more refined look and better navigation tools.

“We paid particular attention to how users were navigating the current Web site, and we used that information to aid us in this redesign,” said Kevin Medeiros, Web Coordinator in the Office of University Communications, who was instrumental in the redesign project.

“The site contains features that improve usability for our visitors,” he added, “and it’s built on a platform that makes it easier for us to keep pace with Web trends as they evolve.”

One additional enhancement to FresnoStateNews.com is a feedback feature that lets users leave comments and “converse” with other users about a particular topic.
