The permanent home of University High School takes shape west of the Smittcamp Alumni House on the California State University, Fresno campus.

MidState Steel of Fresno/Stockton is erecting the steel framework in preparation for the roof’s wood framing by Zumwalt Construction of Fresno, the general contractor for the $18.6 million project.

Construction began during summer 2009 on Matoian Drive at Maple Avenue and is scheduled for completion next winter.

University High, which is chartered by the Fresno Unified School District and hosted by Fresno State’s College of Arts and Humanities, has been housed in temporary buildings since it came to started in 2000.
