The Fresno State Bulldog baseball team, hoping to make noise this season, gets a reminder in the sky from a two-plane pregame flyover by the VFA-154 Black Knights from Naval Air Station Lemoore and pays tribute to squadron members in the fourth inning.

The flyover is scheduled at 6:03 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, just before the first pitch at the Bulldog Stadium of the series opener against Nebraska. At the controls of the F/A18 Hornets will be Lt. Christopher Keen and Lt. Cmdr. Marcos Jasso.

The Bulldogs also will recognize:

  • Black Knights 2009 Sailor of the Year Aviation Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Luis Ambriz-Mendoza, who reenlisted for four years.
  • Aviation Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Jackie Cornelison, who retires this year following 20 years of service.
  • Aviation Electrician’s Mate 1st Class Brian Fansler for reenlisting for two years.

On hand to help honor the sailors will be 40 other squadron members and the Black Knights Command Master Chief Jimmie Carter.

Fresno State, the 2008 national collegiate champion, won the 2009 Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 33 in Collegiate Baseball’s Preseason Fabulous 40.

The home series continues Saturday with game time at 2:05 p.m., Sunday at 1:05 p.m. and Monday at 6:05 p.m. Tickets are still available at the Bulldog Ticket Office (559.278.3647) or log on to www.gobulldogs.com.
