Representatives from Kampala, Uganda, with the Africa’s Writer Project are touring California State University, Fresno farm laboratory.

Richard Shermer from Today’s Children, Africa’s Future is hosting Gerald Businge and his wife in Fresno for the week, as he tours agricultural organizations in the area including Fresno State, the Clovis West and Clovis East High School farms. The tour is led by Dr. Ganesen Srinivasan, who directs Fresno State’s agricultural enterprises, including the farm.

Businge is a journalist, researcher and entrepreneur from Uganda with extensive reporting experience in development issues including agriculture, gender, health, government and business.

The Fresno State tour includes a glimpse of student involvement in the various student-operated enterprises and how the work is a major component of the educational process.

The Africa’s Writer Project is sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to promote journalism and agriculture in Africa.
