The Fresno State Alumni Association celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Smittcamp Alumni House with a party on Sunday, March 21.
Alumni and friends were welcomed by Dr. Peter Smits, vice president for University Advancement. Smits noted that since the Alumni House ribbon-cutting 10 years ago, the facility has hosted thousands of events including alumni reunions, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, press conferences, on-campus interviews, campus meetings and more.
Dr. Rick Whitten, chair of the Alumni House committee of the Alumni Association board of directors, offered thanks to Earl and the late Muriel Smittcamp, who envisioned a welcoming center for alumni visiting the campus and made the initial donation.
Whitten also expressed gratitude for the late Bill Forbes, who was the building committee chair. A bench in the Alumni House garden was dedicated to Forbes’ memory.
