A daylong conference focusing on undergraduate professionalism and multiethnic literature is under way at California State University, Fresno.

The Undergraduate Conference on Multiethnic Literatures of the Americas is sponsored by the Chicano Writers and Artists Association and the Fresno State Department of English. The event is free and open to the community.

Undergraduates will present topics based on these panel themes:

  • “History and Story in a Capitalist Market – Luis Valdez’s ‘Bandido!’”
  • “Women of Color and the Objectifying Gaze”
  • “Multiethnic Literature of the United States Conference 2010 Presenters”

There also will be a graduate roundtable discussion.

The conference runs through 3 p.m. today, March 19, at the Peters Business Building, Room 192. Parking is available in Lot J.
