The 2010 Spring Break Extravaganza at California State University, Fresno will provide students with information about safety, wellness and community service projects to undertake when the university closes March 29-April 2.

“Exploring California” is this year’s theme for the outdoor event 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, in front of the Kennel Bookstore. Extravaganza is conducted in a carnival-style atmosphere with music and food, while encouraging social involvement and responsibility.

Students can win prizes, including travel vouchers, get promotional items and learn about local recreational opportunities.

Spring Break Extravaganza is presented by the Alcohol Safety Council student subcommittee, USU Productions and Wellness Ambassadors.

Other spring break-themed activities include:

  • A mock DUI trial at 6 p.m., Monday, March 22 at the Satellite Student Union.
  • Alternative Spring Break program, with students doing volunteer projects at Rotary Playland and with the Street Saints.

On Monday, March 15, the university alerted students to a U.S. State Department travel advisory discouraging travel to Mexico due to an increase in violence. It will be sent out via the Bulldog Blog on Thursday, March 18, in a special Spring Break Edition of the student e-mail newsletter.
