The Fresno Community Chorus, Master Chorale will perform at 2:30 p.m. May 16, in the California State University, Fresno Concert Hall in the Music Building.

The chorus, under Fresno State music professor Dr. Tony Mowrer, the interim director, will sing a collection of pieces by American composers.

The performance will include “American Mass,” a piece by Ron Kean, director of choral activities at Bakersfield College. Kean will speak briefly prior to the performance.

Tickets are $8 for students and $15 for the general public.

Fresno Community Chorus is a diverse group of volunteer singers from the region, whose membership includes physicians, lawyers, teachers, students, retirees, homemakers, professional musicians and music educators.

In 2009, the chorus sang for a second time in Carnegie Hall in New York and in Salzburg, Vienna and Prague, during a European tour. The Community Chorus plans to sing in 2011 in Italy.
