Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine has named California State University, Fresno one of the top 100 universities for Hispanics seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees.

According to the annual report, Fresno State ranked 18th nationally and seventh in the California State University system in conferring bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic students in 2008-09. Fresno State ranked 36th nationally and seventh in the CSU in awarding master’s degrees to Hispanic candidates.

“This is a great accomplishment not only for our university but our community as well,” said Dr. William Covino, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Fresno State.

Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education is a biweekly publication reporting news on Hispanic education to the higher education community.

The magazine’s annual rankings are based on information collected from the U.S. Department of Education.
