The International Year of the Nurse and Florence Nightingale’s birthday are being celebrated Wednesday, May 12, during an open house at California State University’s Central California Center for Excellence in Nursing.

The event is 2-4 p.m. at the center (1780 E. Bullard Ave., Suite 116, near the Fresno State campus). Joining in the celebration are Fresno State’s College of Health and Human Services and its Department of Nursing. The center is housed within the college.

The celebration also will focus on the university’s Nursing Legacy Project, which highlights the impact of central San Joaquin Valley nurses. The Nursing Legacy Project is recording oral histories in addition to artifacts, biographies, historic photographs and uniforms already archived at the Center for Excellence in Nursing.

For more information, contact Donna DeRoo at 559.974.2278 or the center at 559.451.3424.
