The Arne Nixon Center for the Study of Children’s Literature at California State University, Fresno and the Fresno County Library’s Big Read program is sponsoring an appearance by children’s book author Robert D. San Souci at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17.

The event at the Woodward Park Library, 944 E. Perrin Ave. in northeast Fresno is free and open to the public.

San Souci is known for spooky stories such as “Cinderella Skeleton” and the “Dare to be Scared” series. He and his brother, author and illustrator Daniel San Souci, were given their first speaking engagement in Fresno through the Arne Nixon Center. In return, Robert San Souci has donated his files to the center.

San Souci will sign copies of his books at Petunia’s Place (6027 N. Palm Ave., Fresno) after the Big Read event.

The Big Read is focused on the works of American writer Edgar Allan Poe and other mystery stories.
