The 31st Take Back the Night event in the Free Speech Area at California State University, Fresno – an international movement to raise awareness of domestic violence, sexual violence and violence toward children – will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20.

Take Back the Night provides an opportunity to take a stand against violence and empower people to reclaim their communities, said Jenny Whyte, coordinator of the Women’s Resource Center, which presents the event with Women’s Alliance.

The theme is, “Shatter the Silence and Stop the Violence.”

The free event opens at 5:30 p.m. and will feature music, speakers, information tables, a candlelight vigil, a march and an open mic portion to share feelings or survivor experiences.
