Conference aims to inspire youth to explore health care careers California State University, Fresno will host the semi-annual Central Valley Health Network Youth Conference from 9:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10.

Opening and closing ceremonies will be held in the Satellite Student Union (2485 E. San Ramon Ave.) while breakout sessions will be held in the University Business Center.

The conference will bring together nearly 300 high school students to interact with health care professionals, choose from among nearly two dozen information sessions and participate in numerous activities, including a “reality check” session where students will evaluate career and personal goals.

Frank Escobar, program director of Afterschool Programs at Visalia Unified School District and a youth development and afterschool consultant, will deliver the keynote address at 10:15 a.m.

The Central Valley Health Network Youth Conference aims to provide opportunities for students to interact with a variety of health care professionals, explore the many aspects of health care, and motivate a greater number of Central Valley students to choose health care careers.

The conference is sponsored by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, Fresno Unified School District, the Human Resource Association of Central California and the Society for Human Resource Management student chapter at Fresno State.

The Central Valley Health Network is a consortium of 12 federally qualified health center corporations that provide comprehensive preventive primary care services and advocate on behalf of low-income and medically underserved families throughout the Central Valley of California.
