One of the largest delegations from California State University, Fresno to participate in a Humanics Management Institute, represented the campus at the national conference in Orlando, Fla.
The Fresno State delegation was composed of 23 students seeking humanics certification in nonprofit organization leadership, five alumni, two faculty, three community partners and one administrator. Fourteen of the 34 Fresno State participants were chosen to deliver two poster sessions and eight workshops during the national conference, Jan. 3-6.
More than 600 students from the 60 campuses nationwide affiliated with the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (formerly American Humanics) and 100 nonprofit professionals were registered. The conference is the capstone experience required for national certification and includes participation in seminars, workshops, a simulation case study, a career fair and placement day.
The Humanics Program at Fresno State represents collective university-community investment in building up the central San Joaquin Valley’s community-benefit sector. In its first 10 years, the program has prepared 115 students graduates for careers in nonprofit leadership.
