The Fresno Advertising Federation honored the creativity and effectiveness of California State University, Fresno’s Advancement Division with four major category awards and Best of the Best honors in the organization’s 31st annual Addys competition.

Fresno State students won 13 Addys in the student competition.

In the professional competition, Fresno State won a Best of the Best and a Gold Award in the E-mail, E-Cards competition for the university’s holiday video message featuring mascot character TimeOut opening Christmas gift boxes containing university achievements. Cited in the entry are Peter Robertson, the director of annual giving/alumni relations; Jill Wagner, the director of campaign communications; Randy Haar, campus videographer; and Kevin Medeiros, web coordinator.

Gold Awards also were presented to Fresno State in the Point of Purchase category for a Centennial Homecoming brochure and for Special Event Marketing for the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala invitation. A Silver Award for Direct Marketing honored the Fresno State Alumni Association’s Centennial membership/scholarship donation appeal.

Graphic designer Todd Graves was cited on three of the awards; as were Sarah Schmidt, the associate director of alumni relations; and Robertson. Brooke Stephens, the Alumni Association membership coordinator was listed on two citations.

Peter N. Smits, the university’s vice president for Advancement, said, “We are very proud of these accomplishments, which honor our passion for Fresno State and our professionalism. Especially in these difficult economic times, Fresno State needs broad-based support to carry out our academic mission, provide our students life-altering educational opportunities and help meet our community’s significant challenges.”

In the student competition, Fresno State students Samuel J. Tekunoff (Packaging, Single Consumer/Trade Magazine, Logo categories) and Anna Reyes (Packaging, Magazine Campaign, Mixed Media and Logo) each won four Gold Awards. Andres Hermosilla (Packaging and Magazine Campaign) and Luciano Zamora (Logo) won two Gold Awards apiece. Cassandra Luke was a Gold Award winner in the Brochure category.

Addys are awarded locally in the American Advertising Federation’s national competition among marketing and advertising professionals.
