“A Century of Excellence 1911-2011,” the first comprehensive history of Fresno State’s initial 100 years, is available for purchase at the Kennel Bookstore for $49.95.

The book was published in time for Commencement or Father’s Day giving and well ahead of the winter holiday gift season. Sales also are anticipated to individuals who want to add a volume about California State University, Fresno to their local history library.

The book is a coffee table-sized, 295-page, lavishly illustrated volume written by local historian William Secrest Jr. and Lanny Larson of University Communications at Fresno State. It covers the history of the institution, its leaders through the years, sports and academic achievements, buildings past and present and a look at student, staff and faculty life over the decades from Normal School to 21st century university.
