Plastering work was completed Wednesday, July 27, on the competition pool – one of three pools – that comprise the new Fresno State Aquatics Center, where the Bulldog swimming and diving team begins 2011-12 competition Oct. 22.

About 60 workers using 65 tons of plaster, finished the big pool after completing the kinesiology pool and warming pool on Tuesday, July 27. When the plastering work was complete, the two-day job of filling the pool with 962,342 gallons of water began.

Concrete seating and scoreboard structure work will begin Monday, Aug. 1, and take about 60 days to complete.

Swimming and diving Coach Jeanne Fleck, who begins her fifth season at the helm of the Bulldogs team, said training will begin in the new pool when classes resume Aug. 22.
