California State University, Fresno students received heads-up e-mails from school officials that fall tuition fees may be increased because of state budget cuts.

Dr. Paul Oliaro, vice president for Student Affairs, sent emails to more than 25,000 students on Thursday, July 7, informing them that the California State University Board of Trustees will consider tuition fee hikes at its meeting Tuesday, July 12, in Long Beach. The trustees determine tuition fees for all 23 CSU campuses.

The proposal is to increase tuition fees by $294 per semester for undergraduate students, by $339 for credential and $360 for graduate students. Proposed tuition fees for part-time students (0-6 units) would increase proportionately.

The notification to Fresno State students explains when any additional fees would have to be paid for enrollment in fall 2011 classes. Information about the proposed increase and deadlines is available at https://www.fresnostatenews.com/wp-content/uploads/tuitionfeefaqs7-7.pdf.
