California State University, Fresno is accepting applications for fall 2012 admission Saturday, Oct. 1 through midnight Nov. 30 – the priority filing period for first-time freshmen and transfer students.

Fresno State is designated as an impacted campus for admission of new freshmen and upper-division transfers. Applicants from Fresno State’s designated local area (Fresno, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties and other designated school districts outsides these counties) will be admitted if they meet minimum California State University system admission requirements.

Students from elsewhere will be ranked based on an eligibility index that considers high school GPA and test scores and will be admitted on a space-available basis.

Transfer applicants from the designated local area’s community colleges will be accommodated at Fresno State if they meet minimum CSU admission requirements. Included are students from College of the Sequoias, Fresno City College, Merced College, Modesto Junior College, Reedley College, West Hills Community College and West Hills College-Lemoore.

Transfer applicants from other colleges and universities will be considered on a space-available basis if they have a minimum 2.70 GPA or higher in all transfer work.

Returning Fresno State students will be accommodated on a space-available basis, with priority given to upper-division returnees who have completed General Education-Breadth requirements in English composition, oral communication, critical thinking and mathematics.

Other fall 2012 application tentative deadlines:

  • Returning students, Feb. 1, 2012
  • Credential applicants, April 1, 2012
  • Graduate and doctoral applicants, April 1, 2012

It is recommended that applications be in by Nov. 30, the priority filing period, to avoid any adjustments to the deadline schedule after that date.
