Fresno State’s Magkaisa Filipino Club brings culture and diversity to campus at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at the Satellite Student Union.
This annual event showcases all different aspects of Filipino culture expressed through songs, dances, skits and spoken word. The show is a product of three months of preparation by the club and the performers.
Magkaisa Filipino Club was founded in 1974 and works to promote cultural awareness, student unity, community service and friendship.
“Members benefit from this experience by learning how to manage time, develop social skills and even get a work out, all while learning about the Filipino culture through the art of dance,” said Angelica Chavez, the organization president.
The club also actively participates in the Friendship Games, hosted by California State University, Fullerton, where Filipino-American organizations from various campuses join together to show their spirit each October.
The culture night is free and open to the public.
