Lanny Larson, senior writer and editor at Fresno State, was honored as Professional of the Year by the Central California chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

During its Image Awards luncheon on Friday, May 10, the chapter presented seven other awards to Fresno State’s Office of University Communications team for work done in 2012.

Larson was cited for his dedication to public relations and communications and his mentoring of students and fellow professionals. His work at Fresno State for the last six years follows a 40-plus-year career in newspapers, radio, television and news service work.

Larson is president-elect of the Central California chapter and its professional liaison with the student chapter.

He also won an Award of Excellence trophy for FresnoState Magazine, which he coordinates and edits.

Armbruster won three citations: Award of Excellence and Award of Merit for two speeches she wrote and Excellence in electronic communications category for Leadership Link, a monthly newsletter for Fresno State volunteers.
