More than 30 high school marching bands from throughout the state will compete in Fresno State’s 15th annual Sierra Cup Classic at Bulldog Stadium, the largest band event of its kind on the West Coast.

The Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band hosts the event and will perform for the high school students and guests at 4:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., just before the awards presentation at 9:45. The first high school band will play at 2:05 p.m.

The Western Band Association competition also provides an opportunity to recruit high school musicians for the Bulldog Marching Band.

The Sierra Cup Classic was started in 1997 by Dr. Gary P. Gilroy, Fresno State’s director of bands.

Tickets are $9 for students, seniors and military and $12 for the general public. Public parking is available for $10 near the stadium.
