Fresno State will host the African-American Student Recruitment Conference 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Nov. 10. The event is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by University Outreach Services, the conference begins with registration in the Fresno State Satellite Student Union.

Brian White, Youth Minister of Saint Rest Baptist Church, will deliver the keynote remarks. The conferences theme is “Education and Academic Success.” Nearly 600 students, parents and teachers are expected to attend.

Event coordinator and outreach counselor Kornya Lansana said the conference will prepare students for both academic and educational success. “The focus of this year’s conference is to help students recognize their inner strength, challenge themselves academically and prepare them for college,” she said.

Students also will have an opportunity to explore different academic resources and a variety of workshops related to student success.
