Fresno State’s Central Valley Health Policy Institute with the Cecil C. Hinton Multicultural Community Center present “Confronting the Consequences of Violence: Healing and Public Health,” 3:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the Hinton Center (2385 S. Fairview Ave). The presentation features Tina Cheŕy, co-founder of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, which works to raise awareness of the causes and consequences of violence through education, collaboration and policy advocacy. Chéry will speak about her work with survivors of gun violence and her journey as an immigrant woman of African and Latina descent to create and sustain a community service and advocacy organization. The presentation is part of the Health Policy Institute’s Professional and Personal Growth Opportunities Series that examines equity and organizational issues in the San Joaquin Valley.
