A collection of five plays, “The Bully Plays,” will be performed 7 p.m. April 19 at the Woods Theatre in the Speech Arts Building at Fresno State, followed by a dessert and coffee reception with the director and student cast members at 8 p.m.

The collection was compiled by author Linda Habjan, and the performance was directed by J. Daniel Herring, professor of Theatre Arts as a production of the Theatre for Young Audiences.

The Bully Plays” features eight ensemble cast members: Dillon Morgan, Beth Hall, Mitchell Lam Hau, Samantha Hyde, Nick “Phoenix” Rodriguez and Kia Vassiliades all from Fresno; Aaron J. McGee of Hanford; and Leonel Barajas  of Madera.

The five plays are:

• “A Bully There Be” by Lisa Dillman (a bully kid in fairy tale form);
• “Beasts” by Ernie Nolan (facing the monster of fear);
• “Nobody Nose (The Trouble I’ve Seen)” by Barry Kornhauser (being different);
• “Here Be Dragons” by Doug Cooney (name calling); and
• “A Bunch Of Clowns” by Sandra Fenichel Asher (bullys to have friends).

The event is presented by the Bulldog Pride Scholarship Fund. Tickets: $20 general admission, $25 day of show. Seating is limited and parking is free.  

The Bulldog Pride Fund was established In 2006   with a bequest from the estate of alumnus William N. Beck to support student scholarships at Fresno State.
