Dr. Julie B. Olson-Buchanan, professor and chair of the Department of Management in Fresno State’s Craig School of Business, has been elected a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
The professional association of more than 8,000 members is the premier national and international society for scientists who conduct research and/or practice in the area of Industrial-Organizational Psychology. The group is a division of the American Psychological Association and an affiliate of the American Psychological Society.
Fellows are elected for their “unusual and outstanding contributions or performance in I-O psychology, through research, practice, teaching, administration and/or professional service.”
Fewer than three percent of society members hold the recognition and Olson-Buchanan is the first professor from Fresno State and the California State University system to be named a fellow.
Olson-Buchanan received the Top Ten Professional Women recognition from the Marjaree Mason Center in 2012 and was awarded the 2008 Provost’s Award for Teaching Excellence. She is the founding director of the Craig School of Business Honors Program and is associate editor of the Journal of Business and Psychology. She is chair of the Board of Directors of the Community Food Bank.
A book she co-edited, “Using Industrial-Organizational Psychology for the Greater Good,” was released last month.
Olson-Buchanan joined the Fresno State faculty in 1992.
