President-Designate Joseph I. Castro and his wife, Mary, made their first official visit to Fresno State on Thursday.
Dr. Castro met with retiring President John D. Welty, members of the Academic Senate, Provost’s Leadership Team, the President’s Cabinet, the outgoing and incoming Associated Students Inc. presidents and community volunteers from a variety of campus boards and foundations.
Mary Castro toured University House, the official residence of the Fresno State president, and joined her husband for a campus tour and the reception with community volunteers.
The Castros met with President Welty and his wife, Dr. Sharon-Brown Welty, on Wednesday night.
Dr. Castro said he expects he and his wife will return to Fresno several times before he assumes office on Aug. 1.
