Alexander Wilson Lark, 43, died Tuesday (Nov. 19) in a pedestrian/vehicle traffic accident at about 6:30 pm. when he was crossing Shaw Avenue between Maple and Chestnut after class. Mr. Lark was currently enrolled in the Special Education Teaching Credential program at Fresno State.

A 2012 Fresno State graduate with a degree in Liberal Studies, Mr. Lark was a special education teacher intern at Edison High School this semester and involved in Fresno State’s Community-Based Learning program, a partnership of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development and Fresno Unified District to increase the quality and diversity of teachers in Fresno County.

He was a participant in the Conflict Resolution on Education for Teacher Education (CRETE) training through the Kremen School’s Mediator Mentors Program, a university-public school partnership in which future teachers, counselors, social workers and school psychologists support the development of conflict resolution skills in school children.

Mr. Lark was the son of the late Dr. Alexander H. Lark, professor emeritus in education (Department of Curriculum and Instruction) at Fresno State who retired in 1994.

He also was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, according to Fresno State’s Veterans Service Office.

“The university community and especially those of us in the Kremen School are saddened by this tragic event,” said Dr. Paul Beare, Kremen dean. “We extend our condolences to Mr. Lark’s family, his friends and faculty and staff who knew him here at Fresno State.”
