Fresno State journalism student Angela Sasaki, a Mass Communications and Journalism senior from Reedley, was awarded a $1,500 cash grant from the California Press Foundation. She is one of four students statewide to receive the award based on academic record and journalistic accomplishments and the ninth Fresno State student to receive the award since the program began in 1995. A part-time night police reporter at The Fresno Bee, Sasaki also has written stories this semester for newspapers in Sanger, Fowler, Selma and Kingsburg as part of Fresno State’s Community Journalism Program. Grant recipients receive the cash when they start an internship with a California newspaper.
