Fresno State’s Joint ROTC Color Guard will conduct a brief flag retreat ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the North Gym flag poles (Campus Drive south of Barstow Avenue) for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.  President Joseph I. Castro will attend the ceremony with his wife Mary. Castro ordered the university’s flags flown at half staff Saturday, including at Bulldog Stadium for the Mountain West Championship football game between Fresno State and Utah State. The flag poles are outside the North Gym front doors where tailgaters will be able to observe and pay respects. Castro also ordered the flags lowered through Monday, Dec. 9, in memory of Nelson Mandela per President Barack Obama’s  Presidential Proclamation — Death of Nelson Mandela. In addition to the North Gym, flags are flying half-staff at the Thomas Administration Building and the Save Mart Center and all university events where the flag is raised.
