Five San Joaquin Valley women will be honored with the Common Threads Award at the 18th Annual Common Threads Luncheon at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at the University Courtyard Dining Hall at Fresno State.

The 2014 Common Threads Award recipients are Juliet Campos of Caruthers, Lorraine Machado of Merced, Alice Saviez of Fresno, RoseAnn Serrano of Le Grand and Helen Sullivan of Hanford.

The award recognizes women in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced and Tulare counties for their agricultural, philanthropic and community service.

“These five Valley women have strong agricultural backgrounds and are active participants in their communities through philanthropic endeavors and community service,” said Dr. Charles Boyer, dean of the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. “Their contributions to agriculture are vital to the industry’s success in Central California.”

Common Threads is a collaborative effort of the Ag One Foundation, Fresno State’s Jordan College and the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation (Ag Leadership). The event will feature award-winning Fresno State wines, a raffle and the award presentation. Tickets are $50 per person. Space is limited.

Net proceeds raised from the luncheon support the Ag One Foundation, Ag Leadership and charities of the honorees’ choices.
