Students Devon Teixeira and Caden Jones were named Fresno State’s 2014 Rosa Parks Award Outstanding Person and Outstanding Scholar respectively. They were among seven individuals and one organization honored in six categories at the Rosa Parks Awards Ceremonies Feb. 28 during Africana Culture Night that culminated the university’s African Peoples’ History Month observance. Other award recipients were: “Just Do It” – Marcy Levatino; “Owning the Spotlight” – Daniel Clark; “Unsung Hero” – Dr. Jenelle S. Pitt, coordinator of the Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Counseling program, and graduate student Clifford Frazier; and “Making It Happen Group Award” – the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
